Red Tailed Cockatoo

The Red Tailed Cockatoo, commonly known as the Red-tailed Black Cockatoo, is a striking Australian parrot admired for its glossy black plumage and vivid red or orange tail panels. With extensive experience caring for parrots, I have found that these birds require thoughtful attention, suitable housing, and plenty of daily enrichment to thrive.

A Red Tailed Cockatoo is an intelligent and observant bird that can form strong bonds with its caregivers. Its powerful beak means sturdy, appropriately designed housing and safe chewable materials are essential. A varied, nutritionally balanced diet, regular interaction, and opportunities for climbing and foraging can also support good welfare.
